This first most important thing to do is to create a schedule. Children fare better when they know what is expected of them. Below is a daily schedule prepared by our Deputy Head of School Miss Ify Jeromes to help our parents manage their children’s time during this lockdown. Feel free to adjust to suit your family.
DAILY HOMESCHOOL
7:30am- 7:45am RISE & SHINE
Wake up as usual for school, brush teeth, make the bed, change OUT of PJs.
7:45am- 8:15am. BREAKFAST
PLA(Practical Life Activity) help do dishes, help with food prep.
8:15am- 8:30am
CLEAN UP. Help clean up the environment
8:30am- 9am -MORNING CIRCLE
Calendar, weather wheel, discuss today’s schooling plan
9am- 11:30am
WORK CYCLE
Language/Reading/Vocabulary/Math/Geography/khanacademy/puzzle (at least 1 a day)
11:30am- noon- RECESS
Some sort of physical activity/ outdoor play
Noon- 12:30 pm- LUNCH
PLA (practical life activity) help with food prep, clean up
12:30pm- 2:30pm- SPECIALS
Alternate:science,cultural/history,2nd language/khanacademy/worksheet
2:30pm- 3pm P/E
Physical exercise: play ball/soccer, gross/motor games, walk/run outdoors
3pm – 3:30pm
SNACK/TEA TIME
Have a tea party while you have a snack and listen to an audio story on Amazon
3:30pm-4pm
MUSIC
Play any musical instrument available at home
4pm- 4:30 pm- THEME STUDY
Our theme will be flowers. Draw any flower, name and colour nicely
4:30 pm- 5pm
MINDFULNESS
Gratitude basket (write what you are grateful for today), stretch/yoga, breathing exercise
5pm-6pm
OUTDOORS/FREE PLAY
Bike around the house, do a scavenger hunt
6pm-7pm -DINNER
Help with food prep, clean up the table, sweep the floor, help do dishes
7pm- 7:30pm-SCREEN FREE CREATIVE PLAY
TIP: put some music and shake it off! Play a board game/build with LEGO, blocks, magnetic tiles
7:30pm-8pm-SHOWER/BATH
While children are getting ready for bed, wipe off all door handles / light switches/ bathrooms’ faucets
8pm- 8:30pm- READING
Read out loud with your children in bed, sing a lullaby
8:30pm-BEDTIME
Lights off, kiss good-night, sleep time
